About Lauren
Marriage Counselor | Parent Coach | Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor | Relationship & Affair Recovery Specialist
Lauren Coats is the Clinical Director and Owner of Rockwall Counseling and Wellness, Heath Counseling and Wellness, and Wylie Counseling and Wellness. She works primarily with couples, parents, and individuals seeking thoughtful, structured support for relationships and family life. Her approach is practical and intentional, grounded in the belief that strong marriages provide a steady foundation for healthy families.
Lauren is known for being direct yet compassionate. She helps clients slow down, gain clarity, and make changes that are both realistic and sustainable. Rather than offering quick fixes, her work focuses on understanding patterns, strengthening communication, and creating forward movement that clients can carry into everyday life.
Lauren has been married for 18 years and is the mother of four children. This personal experience informs her clinical work in meaningful ways, particularly in understanding the long-term rhythms of marriage, the pressures of parenting, and the reality of balancing family life with professional responsibility.
Lauren has a deep respect for marriage, family systems, and the complexity of raising children well. She works closely with parents who want to protect their marriage while navigating the pressures of parenting, helping families establish boundaries that reduce chaos, increase connection, and support emotional health. Her work emphasizes that parenting and marriage are deeply connected—and that tending to one ultimately strengthens the other.
After a long period of maintaining a full caseload, Lauren is accepting a limited number of new clients. She is intentional about the work she takes on and values clients who are willing to engage thoughtfully in the therapeutic process and commit to meaningful, lasting change.
EDUCATION, LEADERSHIP & PRACTICE DEVELOPMENT
Lauren earned her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University and began her career as a 6th-grade teacher, an experience that shaped her understanding of child development, behavioral systems, and family dynamics. She later earned her Master of Science in Counseling from Texas A&M University–Commerce, where she deepened her focus on adolescents, couples, and family systems.
Since founding Rockwall Counseling and Wellness in 2018, Lauren has steadily grown the practice to multiple locations and a team of more than 35 therapists. Growth has been guided by a commitment to thoughtful leadership, ethical care, and consistency in clinical standards rather than rapid expansion for its own sake.
Lauren has been honored as an Aggie100 recipient, recognizing Aggie-owned or Aggie-led businesses that demonstrate sustained growth and leadership. Rockwall Counseling and Wellness has also been named a Living Magazine Best of recipient for multiple years—an acknowledgment Lauren views as a reflection of community trust and long-term relationships rather than accolades alone.
A meaningful part of Lauren’s role is supervising and mentoring therapists. She is deeply committed to developing clinicians who provide grounded, ethical, and client-centered care across all practice locations.
SPECIALTIES & CLINICAL APPROACH
Lauren provides marriage counseling and parent coaching that is structured, intentional, and focused on progress. She helps parents establish clear, healthy boundaries that protect their marriage while supporting emotionally secure children. Her clinical philosophy is simple and steady: when priorities are clear and boundaries are consistent, families function with greater ease and connection.
Lauren also works with high-achieving women navigating perimenopause, menopause, work burnout, and significant life transitions. She understands how hormonal changes, career pressure, and shifting family roles can quietly erode emotional well-being and relationships. Her work helps clients restore balance, clarify values, and make changes that support both performance and personal health.
Areas of focus include:
✔ Marriage Counseling & Couples Therapy
✔ Parent Coaching & Parenting Boundaries
✔ Affair Recovery & Rebuilding Trust
✔ Co-Parenting & Divorce Recovery
✔ Conflict Resolution & Communication
✔ Anxiety & Depression Management
✔ Perimenopause, Menopause Support, and Work & Life Transitions
Lauren believes therapy should feel purposeful. Clients leave early sessions with clarity around goals, recommended session frequency, and practical next steps. Progress is reviewed regularly to ensure the work remains focused, effective, and aligned with what matters most to the client.
WHO I WORK BEST WITH
Lauren works best with adults who are motivated, reflective, and open to active participation in the therapeutic process. Many of her clients are capable, responsible, and high-functioning, yet feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or stretched thin beneath the surface.
She is particularly well-suited for:
Individuals navigating midlife transitions, including perimenopause and menopause
Women experiencing work burnout, chronic stress, or work-life imbalance
Couples and parent/adult-child dyads seeking healthier communication and relational repair
Clients who appreciate thoughtful feedback, practical tools, and gentle challenge
Adults willing to apply insight outside of session and take ownership of their growth
Lauren may not be the best fit for those seeking a passive therapy experience or short-term reassurance alone. Her work is collaborative and structured, and it tends to resonate most with clients who value clarity, accountability, and steady progress.
FINDING THE RIGHT FIT
Lauren understands that finding the right therapist matters. If her availability is limited or another clinician may be a better fit, she takes care to help clients connect with a therapist who aligns with their values, goals, and family needs. Thoughtful matching is an important part of her work.
Healthy families are built with intention. If you are ready to strengthen your marriage, establish healthier boundaries, and move forward with clarity and confidence, support is available.
