About Greg Goff

From Fire Service to Counseling

After a 35-year career as a firefighter, I am beginning a new chapter of service as a graduate counseling intern at Rockwall Counseling & Wellness. I am completing my graduate training in professional counseling at Liberty University and practice under the supervision of Lauren Coats, LPC-S.

Experience Supporting Others

Throughout my career in the fire service, I supported individuals, families, and communities during some of life’s most difficult moments. I also served on—and later led—my department’s peer support team, helping fellow firefighters navigate personal and professional challenges.

These experiences deepened my understanding of resilience, trauma, occupational stress, and the importance of having someone who will listen with compassion and without judgment.

Who I Work With

I work with adults experiencing anxiety, stress, grief, trauma-related concerns, relationship difficulties, and significant life transitions. I have a particular interest in serving first responders, veterans, and individuals working in high-stress professions.

I also welcome clients who want to better understand themselves, develop healthier coping skills, and create meaningful change in their lives.

My Counseling Approach

My primary therapeutic approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which helps clients recognize how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another.

I view counseling as a collaborative process and work with each client to establish practical goals, build upon existing strengths, and develop strategies that reflect their individual values, experiences, and circumstances.

Showing Up When It Matters

My years in the fire service taught me the importance of showing up for people when they need support most. I bring that same dedication, steadiness, and compassion into the counseling room.

I consider it a privilege to walk alongside clients as they navigate difficult circumstances, recognize their strengths, develop healthier ways of coping, and move toward meaningful healing and lasting change.
